FIND YOUR PERFECT NEIGHBORHOOD IN CHARLOTTE

Compass Charlotte services clients relocating into, around, and out of the full Charlotte metro area and beyond. Although we focus on a few major counties in particular, our agents are here to help across the entire Greater Charlotte area, even crossing the border into nearby South Carolina.

MECKLENBURG COUNTY | POPULATION: 1.12M
There’s a reason why Mecklenburg County is one of the fastest-growing and most populated counties in North Carolina. The downtown is a renowned entertainment hub and a center for urban-modern homes and high rises. Here you’ll find an abundance of historic architecture, outdoor art installations, state government centers, and corporate headquarters.

Mecklenburg County is home to bustling nightlife, trendy boutiques, coffee shops, bars, and upscale restaurants. There are also elegant and peaceful suburban neighborhoods shaded by willow oaks and complete with a mix of Tudors, estates, Southern Charm ranches, and modern new-builds. It is vibrant and memorable – the perfect intersection between trendy and modern, yet also vintage and historic.
UNION COUNTY | POPULATION: 251K
Union County cities and rural areas offer an entirely unique experience. Outside of Charlotte proper, but only a ~30 minute drive away, Union County is home to some South Charlotte gems like Marvin, Weddington, and Waxhaw. Residents enjoy larger properties in a more rural landscape.

This county is peaceful and idyllic, a living portrait of rolling hills, farmland and stables. Union County is home to some of the best public schools in Charlotte and is adorned with impressive estates, historic homes, and stunning new-builds. The county has much of the same aesthetic and sense of community as inner-Charlotte does, but interplayed against a backdrop of a quieter, more remote setting.
YORK COUNTY | POPULATION: 294K

The word “progressive” is often used in describing York County and considering the county’s track record in both economic growth and land use planning, it’s hard to argue with that reputation. Rapid development and an eye for urban design have made York County a modern-day suburbia, ideal for anyone who desires a comfortable life. Rich in South Carolina history and culture, York County is home to historic sites like Historic Brattonsville, Hightower Hall, the Historic White Home, and the Gettys Art Center.

CABARRUS COUNTY | POPULATION: 231K
Cabarrus County is on the northeast edge of Charlotte and easily one of the most vibrant urban regions. It offers easy access to Charlotte’s big-city excitement while providing real-world attractiveness and charm, and a relaxed and uncomplicated lifestyle that just the right bit of distance provides.

With Concord, Kannapolis, and Harrisburg ranked among the Charlotte Region’s fastest-growing communities, many are choosing Cabarrus County to live and work more than almost anywhere in the country. Cabarrus County is home to virtually every kind of shopping experience, plus an entertainment district just moments away from all the thrills of motor racing.
GASTON COUNTY | POPULATION: 230K
Gorgeous landscapes, charming towns, abundant parks, beautiful views, plentiful trails, entertaining events, and easy river access. These qualities define Gaston County and make it a prime location for outdoor activities and recreation. Each one of the 13 communities within provides numerous opportunities to stroll through parks, marinas, gardens, farms, and trails.

From Belmont to Bessemer City or Cherryville to Cramerton, each town offers a unique atmosphere for you to indulge in dining, craft beverages, shopping or art and history along with many other sports, entertainment and special event options. Gaston County is rapidly becoming North Carolina Piedmont’s premier outdoor recreation destination.
IREDELL COUNTY | POPULATION: 192K
You only need one visit to Iredell County to discover a welcoming and vibrant place that exudes a true sense of community. Situated in a prime spot between Hickory and Salisbury, Iredell County is family-friendly with excellent schools. It’s filled with art, culture, and local history – and is surprisingly affordable given the desirable location.

The northwest section of the county contains the Brushy Mountains with the remainder offering a gently rolling countryside. The county’s largest river, the Catawba, forms much of its western border. Lake Norman is in the southern part of Iredell County and is often referred to as the “inland sea.” The north part of the county is largely rural. Iredell is one of the longest counties in the state and stretches for nearly fifty miles North to South, from Yadkin County up North, meeting up with Mecklenburg in the South.

Iredell is also a major hub for NASCAR racing, with race shops and teams supported by a variety of notable automotive manufacturers.
